International Dance Day is a global celebration of dance, created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The event takes place every year on 29 April. The day strives to encourage participation and education in dance through events and festivals held on the date all over the world.
Through dance, students learn teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills. Dance awakens new perceptions in children which help them learn and think in new ways. Children need to express and communicate their ideas and to be given the opportunity to make creative decisions, even at a young age.
STEAM incorporates arts in education. Dance is an art in motion!
